How Did We Get Here?

Proactive recognized the impact and effects of new fire code requirements facing our state. Not only does this impact the community (HOAs, residents), but also Proactive Engineers and our clients. Existing Proactive clients were voicing a need for faster turnaround and more detailed help with fire codes related to civil engineering. Demand for interaction with the new 2010, 2022, 2026, and, more recently, the 2025 Wildland Interface Codes drove them to step in and develop Proactive Fire Solutions (PFS).

Fire Planning is a critical component of development projects and is essential to ensure fire safety is incorporated at the earliest stages of a project. This enables collaboration with our engineers and designers from the outset and throughout, allowing timely feedback on a project through entitlements and ultimately the final design.

Enter a staff of former OCFA Fire Marshals, Battalion Chiefs, Fire Captains, and Fire Prevention Analysts, all of whom started out as firefighters and paramedics. What better knowledge and experience could you ask for when needing help on multiple issues or projects? Our Proactive Fire Solutions Team is highly trained in Wildland Fire Control and Fire Protection, with a strong focus on WUIC Fire Prevention.

Specialized background training and expertise in Wildland:

  • Fire behavior
  • Fire prevention
  • Mitigation of fire risk
  • Fuel reduction and modification
  • Fire-resistant landscaping
  • Program management for long-term fire safety
  • WUIC grant writing

What We Offer?

PFS also offers consulting services for Fire Master Plans from the conceptual phase through the entitlements stage of a project, defining multiple elements of a site plan, including, but not limited to, fuel modification zones, defensible spaces, fire department access, and fire water systems. Accurately defining these elements provides concise data for the final engineering stage. As projects mature from concept to shovel-ready, codes can change, and our experts will provide insight into how to meet new requirements while considering our client’s project objectives.

  • Offer fire-related services to existing land development clients
  • Offer fire-related services to other consultants (i.e., architects, land planners)
  • Offer fire-related services to local governmental agencies
  • HOA inspections
  • Due Diligence on New Projects
  • Fire Master Plans
  • Fire Sprinklers and Alarms
  • Fuel Modifications Plans
  • Fire Behavior Modeling
  • Fire Scene Analysis
  • Hazard Reduction Plans
  • Evacuation Planning
  • Fire Codes and Regulations
  • Defensible Spaces
  • Fire Department Access
  • Fire Water Systems
  • Expert Witness

PFS all began in the field on the front line. It’s where our team developed their specialties in various fire-related areas.

Knowing the importance of teaching, training, management, and leading is what gives us the extensive insight we can offer today.
